Is it Mandatory to join ?
Rush week is only for potenial new members (PNM) to get to know each other and learn about the fraternity, but it a way for the officer to learn about the PNM. We will evaluate members during rush week and take it into consideration when viewing your application. We understand that some members off prior commitments but it is highly recommend to attend all the events.
Why should I come?
We highly encourage all pre-meds to come out and attend. All of our members have aspirations of pursuing a career in health and have or are going through the exact same things as you are. We are more than willing to share our experiences and would definitely like to hear yours as well. There is absolutely no commitment other than the $25 rush fee due Wednesday. Many people who don’t decide to continue rushing remain friends with many of our fraternity members and some even rush again later when they are more sure that this is the right thing for them.
How many new members are accepted ?
If you look at our members page, you’ll see that each class is a different size. The number of people per class always changes because we have no “quota” to fill each quarter. We accept pre-meds based on many criteria: who we believe will best fit in with the other members of our fraternity, who we believe will benefit the fraternity later on by contributing something unique, who we think best exemplifies Phi Delta Epsilon's core values, and many others. In other words, we do not view people as “numbers” but as individuals.
DO I NEED A MINIMUM GPA?
You do not need a minimum GPA in order to rush. However, once you are initiated, members of PhiDE are expected to maintain a quarterly GPA of at least 3.0 in order to support our goals as premed students.
IF I DON'T GET A BID THE FIRST TIME, CAN I RUSH FOR PHIDE AGAIN?
Yes! We highly recommend it. In fact, several of our active members were given a bid after their second recruitment. We recruit during the second week of every fall and spring quarter.
